I fucking hate shops. I wish I had a garage so I could just DIY everything and not worry about people fucking up. Somehow, while having my TAIL LIGHT BULB HARNESS checked, this shop managed to break all the trim on the door sill all the way up to where the hood release hatch is on my 335i. I'm fucking pissed. They will be paying every cent.

Ugh that sucks. I think the real problem is the way shops work. They don’t have a reason to take their time and do things right unless it’s a high end indie place or a good dealer. That needs to be incentivized somehow

I have no garage, but diy everything anyway. I’ve swapped engines and transmission in my back yard, changed axle shafts in my college dorm parking lot; in the last month I’ve changed oil on the side of a road in Fallon, NV, changed a fuel pump in an alley behind a strip mall in Lethbridge, AB, changed a brake master cylinder in a parking lot a 1/4 mile from the ocean in Moss Landing, CA...

You just need to find a quiet spot, or else make a lame excuse that non-car-savvy people will buy. When doing the shafts, I told both a parking officer and campus security that I was just changing a flat tire and they both left me alone after that.
